Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Allison is named after John and Susan Allison, the first European settlers on the west side of Okanagan Lake in 1873, where they built a small log home that still stands today at the front of the property greeting visitors. The nose is a mix of herbal black and red fruit streaked with leather, and tobacco. The palate is equally full of black fruits leading into dusty, peppery, meaty notes before a slightly bitter back end. A robust red you can serve with equally assertive dishes from pepperoni pizza to lamb chops. The blend is 61/39 syrah and cabernet franc, mostly out of Osoyoos.Tasted: 31 October 2019Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaNamed for John and Susan Allison, the first European settlers on the west side of Okanagan Lake in 1873, this is a bigger, red, ready blend of 61% syrah and 39% cabernet franc from Osoyoos, aged in neutral oak for 20 months. Big ripe sweet oak beds cherry, raspberry, and a swirl of dark cocoa, with blocky, chalky tannins setting the stage. The finish is short and leaves you needing a grilled pork chop or stew to meet. Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is a blend of 61 percent syrah and 39 percent cabernet franc sourced from Osoyoos, aged in neutral oak for 20 months. The fruit is fairly muted, verging on tired, and doesn't show a lot of obvious character from either variety. Medium-bodied, it has soft acidity with coarse, bitter tannins. All in all, it's a solid pour for a cold Tuesday night; just give it some help at the dinner table with a hearty protein. Drink now.Tasted: 15 January 2020Tasted by: Prices:
