Pax North Coast Syrah 2018
North Coast Region, California, United StatesThis syrah was written as a love letter to the North Coast, taking grapes from Pax's favourite vineyards Castelli-Knight Ranch, Griffins Lair, Armagh, Nellessen, Hawks Butte, and Alder Springs. All was whole cluster (partial carbonic) and aged primarily in concrete with the remainder in neutral French oak barrels until bottling without fining or filtration. Wild and bright with juicy black plum, dark raspberry, black cherry, and sultry cola spicing, with hints of fennel salami, downy violet, and slightly sticky / resinous tannins drawing this medium bodied, youthful red to a snappy, espresso dusted finish.
