Pax Gamay Noir

Pax Gamay Noir 2018

Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, United StatesApparently the first winery to release a gamay from Sonoma Coast, this is from Black Night Vineyard, and from vines grafted over from older sustainably farmed chardonnay to gamay in 2014. This youthful wine was whole cluster pressed and partial carbonic maceration, readily apparent from first youthful swig / swing of balsamic / wine gum / juicy fruit. Tannins are equal parts slight, and softly rugged, while the fruit veers from black cherry to cranberry to pomegranate to black raspberry, all lifted with a natural little spritz and dusting of nutmeg. This rested 7 months in 500L French puncheons prior to release. Chill, and drink now.Tasted: 07 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: BC 75.00 private wine shops Producer: Pax Mahle WinesDistributors: Sur Lie
