Chateau d’Epire Savennieres 2016

Savennieres, Anjou, Loire, FranceFrom one of the oldest estates in Savennières, using gobelet-trained vines (similar to bush vines) that are hand-harvested, this was aged in stainless for nine months prior to bottling. It’s on point from a style perspective, though it may not be the most impressive Savennières I’ve ever had. It’s quite restrained with more secondary and tertiary aromas of honey, beeswax, lanolin, and wet rocks than fruit. The concentration is modest, but with good precision and tension on the palate.
