Matthiasson California Rosé Wine 2018
California, United StatesThis pale California rosé blends grenache, syrah, mouvèdre, and counoise from the Windmill vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills, and syrah grapes from the Hurley Vineyard in Napa Valley. After a whole-cluster press, the grapes were fermented and aged sur lees untouched in stainless barrels, with no MLF, topping, stirring, racking, fining, or cold-stabilization. This is a rosé that benefits from some airtime. Strawberry, raspberry and red currant glides along the slight palate, one with a dairy / yogurt that distracts from the polish. Perhaps it's the grape mix, but this feels distinctly yacht-proper, especially at this price. Chill well and drink now.Tasted: 23 December 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $50.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
