Hartford Court Chardonnay 2017

Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesI love that these wines are evolving with time. The Hartford Court wines are all about artisanal winemaking from hand-harvesting at night or early morning, to whole cluster pressing, indigenous yeast, and barrel fermentation in only French oak (32% new). The 2017 Russian River Valley Chardonnay comes from a collection of small vineyards throughout the AVA, many of which are state-owned. Is it Burgundy? No, but then Burgundy is not the Russian River. That said, this is impressive “Grand Cru” chardonnay. The fruit is super intense but clean, and thankfully now linear, and less fat. Honeysuckle and jasmine, lemon-lime, pears and on and on, it culminates in a long and complex finish that makes you want to finish the bottle.Tasted: 22 December 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
