Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Reserve Merlot 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAll was good in 2016 until the October full moon frost that led to a rush to pick on the 13th and 14th. Rain further delayed the picking another ten days, when the highest blocks on the Black Sage Bench made it into the wine. It is aged 18 months in 35 percent new oak. A deep colour precedes a tight, mineral, graphite nose that hits the palate with style and acidity. More linear then you might expect, it runs long and deep on the palate. Red and black fruits, perfect acidity, and firm, dense, yet almost sweet tannins balance the finish. Already impressive, this is a wine you can cellar for a decade. The final blend is 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc 3% petit verdot, 1% malbec, 1% cabernet sauvignon.Tasted: 05 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
