The Wine Umbrella 70I40 Cab Franc Pinot Noir 2018

CanadaCabernet Franc (70%) and Pinot Noir (30%) who knew — well the French did, and once and a while, they mix the two varieties in the Loire, but then it's hardly a headliner. In BC, well, it’s an elegant solution that works because of an elementary test. It tastes good. It’s juicy, fresh, sort of pseudo-natural wine but in a better way. Oh, it’s a bit green or more to the point herbaceous, and it's not for everyone, but if you are adventurous, opposed to oak and interested in the stuff that happens at the edge as opposed to the middle of winemaking, well, 70/40 is for you. The extra 10 percent for Loire Inspiration had the label police in a bit of a tizzy. That hadn’t tasted the wine. In the end, many will enjoy this juicy, unpretentious red wine that would be at home with any charcuterie plate or local goat cheese. Best of all, the profit goes to the BC chapter of Les Dames D'Escoffier and its many charitable causes. It’s made by the irrepressible Mireille Sauvé a dame herself who may be headed for a new career.Tasted: 29 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
