Rioja Bordón Crianza 2014

Rioja, SpainA blend of 80 percent tempranillo and 20 percent garnacha tinta, this was aged for 12 months in American oak, consistent with the crianza designation. It’s a classic style of Rioja, combining baked red fruits with dill from the American oak, and cedar from age. Medium-bodied, the tannins are approachable and nearly resolved with tempranillo’s characteristic freshness. However, it lacks the complexity and concentration of the top wines of the region, finishing rather thin. At or near peak, this is fine value and ready to be opened now while you age your other Riojas.Tasted: 17 November 2019Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
