Fontanafredda Barbera d'Alba 2017

Piedmont, ItalyAs mentioned last time out, this is a fun juicy red that has been a consistent performer over the years. A barbera from the hillsides of Langhe and Monferrato, it’s as clean as ever with a pleasant and frankly intense black cherry, black raspberry, licorice nose that spills onto the palate. The acidity is prominent, but in check, and the tannins are mostly silky thanks to six months in oak barrels and Slavonian casks to add a touch of weight and texture. It will age three to five years, but it’s ready to drink too. Best with mushroom, pork, or wild boar. Good value.Tasted: 05 November 2019Tasted by: Prices:
