Douro Superior, Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis blend of touriga naçional, touriga franca, and tinta roriz comes from 80+ year old vines on the terraced schist soils of the Douro. After ferment and foot trodding in old granite lagares, this spent 18 months maturing in new French oak barrels. The fruit has gobbled up the oak, as has time in bottle. This is for drinking now, with mellow, lightly grippy tannins housing dried aromatic rock roses, mulberry, raspberry jam, balsamic to a pinched finish.
