Casale del Giglio Petit Manseng 2017
Lazio, ItalyPetit Manseng is a grape native of the Jurançon region in the foothills of the French Atlantic Pyrenees. It’s small-berried and thick-skinned, yielding very little juice. It has evolved into a late pick when the grapes are shrivelled and the sugar content is high. At Casale del Giglio, in Lazio, the petit manseng is adapting nicely to the Agro Pontino Valley, where it was planted for the first time by Casale del Giglio. The primary ferment is spontaneous after a 10 to 12-hour maceration. Look for a bit of straw-yellow colour, before the aromatic oily nose kicks in with nutty, fruity mineral overtones. The palate is full of ripe fruit, but the wine finishes satisfyingly dry and crisp. Grilled chicken anyone?Tasted: 05 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $26.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
