Blue Mountain Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Block 23 River Flow 2017

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2017 vintage launched Blue Mountain's new Pinot Noir program, consisting of two vineyard blends, and three single vineyard wines. It's an exciting move for the pinot specialists, one of BC's first and foremost iconic / cult family owned wineries. River Flow is the name for block 23, a northern facing, eastern sloping section planted to clone 113 and 114, with vines now 25 years old. Like the other single vineyard pinots, the destemmed fruit undergoes a 3 week maceration, gentle pigeage, and native fermentation before transferring to new-4th fill 228L French barrels, where it remains until spring 2019 and bottling without fining. This elegant pinot is well built with cherry, black raspberry, green thorns, and fleshy wild plum. Fine, tight, herbal spices line the taut tannins, well situated to house the slight bodied fruit. The frame is long in the mouth, and lingering thereafter with a cherry / plum blossom note. Much intensity packed into this medium body.Tasted: 08 October 2019Tasted by: Prices:
