Schiopetto Collio Friulano 2016

Gorizia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyThe Schiopetto family has been active in Collio for three generations, making wines as Schiopetto in 1965 when Mario Schiopetto rented a property in the hills of Capriva del Friuli. His first vineyards were planted in 1954 with friulano, and it was from these grapes that Mario produced the first single variety wine in the region. This tocai friulano comes from the same hilly Collio of Gorizia and its clay and limestone (marna) soils. This was fermented and aged in stainless for 8 months to preserve the crisp fruit. Medicinal white cherry, yellow fruits, dried citrus peel draw along this savoury wine, bedded with a lees pad and salt roasted almonds that linger on the finish.Tasted: 09 August 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
