Hajszan Neumann Nussberg Zweigelt 2015
Wien (Vienna), AustriaFrom the limestone, clay and chalk soils of Vienna Nussberg, these zweigelt vines range from 35-50 years old and were farmed and vinified biodynamically. After destemming and native ferment, this moved to oak barrels (1/4 new) for 18 months, after which it was bottled without fining or filtration. Forest berries, dark plum, wild blueberries, fragrant dark cherry and star anise liven the palate, lightly grippy with finely raspy tannins. There's a gentle swell of acidity to rise the thorny, scrubby, medicinal black raspberry through a lingering, salty finish. Very exciting wine, and a style I wish I could drink copiously, with a slight chill.Tasted: 10 August 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:ON | $22.00 | 750ml | consignment |
