Cuvée Mirabelle de la Jaubertie Rosé 2017
Bergerac, Sud-Ouest, FranceChateau de la Jaubertie has a pretty remarkable history, with evidence showing an encampment on the estate during the Neolithic period (400 BC). In the centuries following, it became a hunting lodge for Henry IV, who offered Jaubertie to his mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées. Between 1658 and 1858, Jaubertie was owned by the de Calbiac family, except during the French Revolution when it was owned by the favourite doctor of Queen Marie Antoinette, Leon Beylet. Their Cuvée Mirabelle Rosé is a blend of organically-farmed 70/30 cabernet sauvignon and merlot from limestone clay soils, barrel fermented and aged on lees for 6 months. Shining peach hue, with a lees bedded palate supporting fragrant strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, wildflowers, and kisses of bergamot. Lovely freshness and elegance in this polished, easily-likeable rosé, from an unlikely region. Purchased at the winery for 12 Euros.Tasted: 08 August 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:France | $17.00 | 750ml | Winery direct |
