Seaside Pearl Lover's Lane Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe winery doesn’t provide much background on this wine. It’s 2016. It’s Cabernet Sauvignon. And, though the winery is based in Abbotsford, the grapes are sourced from Okanagan Falls in the Okanagan Valley. But there’s actually a fair bit to like. A spot-on nose of red currant and fresh herbs, with some smokey oak leads to a medium-bodied palate with fresh, slightly tart acidity, and plush tannins, which isn’t easy to achieve with cabernet sauvignon in the Okanagan. It’s definitely ripe, but I like that they preserved the variety's intrinsic green, herbal edge, and at only 13.7% alcohol to boot. Not a bad showing from this relatively new winery.Tasted: 21 July 2019Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | winery direct |
