Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis may be one of the most muscular and brooding gamays you've had. Sourced from the Similkameen Valley, this was native fermented and aged stainless, with one third carbonic maceration. That candied fruitiness bumps up against a wall of smoke, perhaps reflective of the forest fires raging through BC last summer and into fall. The palate is super ripe with cherry, raspberry, and heaps of cracked pepper and smoked spice. Tannins are supple, and again, smoke spiced tinged.
