Guillaume Vrignaud Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2015

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceVrignaud's four hectare 1er Cru Fourchaume vineyard is situated in the north of Chablis near the commune of Fontenay-Près-Chablis on the eastern banks of the Serein river. 25-year-old vines on clay-limestone Kimmeridgian yield a concentrated and focused wine. After a native ferment in stainless, this remained in inox for 10 months on lees, without battonage. Lemon, green apple, flax and stone run the long, slender, clay-weighted palate, finishing with more river stones. This feels its 2015 vintage concentration, yet still manages to keep fresh. Guillaume joined his family's domaine in 1999, and convinced his father to leave the co-op, build a cellar, and start their own label. They moved to organic viticulture in 2009, but like many growers, had to abandon in the very challenging 2016 vintage. They began the three year conversion period for organic certification again in 2017, and will have completed it by the end of the 2019 vintage.Tasted: 13 July 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
