Upper Bench Merlot Cabernet Franc 2016
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPerhaps this is best described as a mid-weight Napa Valley-style red that over-delivers for the price. There is better winemaking all around as the years slip by, and the wine quality reflects it. The 2016 merlot and cabernet franc were picked during the last week of October at perfect ripeness. It spends 18 months in 30 percent new French oak, adding spice and dimension to rich black cherry and blackberry. The tannins are dense but much improved over the past vintage.
