Sperling Market Red 2017
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis wine can take you either way, which makes sense when you blend a delicate variety like pinot noir with a powerhouse hybrid like marechal foch. The nose is fresh with a hint of tomato, the attack slightly bitter with sour cherry notes and the rooty, foxy, earthy undertones that foch never seems to let go. The cool kids will like its sassy tones, but I'm just okay. Best with charred beef or earthy mushroom dishes that can take on the acidity and sour aspects.
