Condrieu, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceCondrieu, a Rhone appellation that is home to the centre of viognier, sets the standard. Still, the problem is the style is foreign to most wine drinkers who have embraced New World viognier and barely know this wine. The nose is delicate, offering up flower blossoms and light almond mixed with citrus, orange, and honeysuckle. The palate is equally involved with ginger adding to its complexity. Power and elegance with restraint; this is a delicious bottle of viognier. Made by Jean Luc Colombo, this is a wine worth investigating. We served it with a curry and bean rice bowl to maximum effect.Tasted: 01 March 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Condrieu, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceWaxy and pure, with grilled almonds, delicate white blossoms, light lemon curd, perfumed melon, orange blossom, honeysuckle and ample ginger spicing along a silken, elegant palate. Condrieu is the epitome of viognier and wines like this show why. Fermentation and vinification in oak, and time on lees in barrel build power and richness. At the same time, the Northern Rhone's climate, altitude and soils lend freshness and a welcome sort of severity. Restrained power and a long life ahead.Tasted: 26 May 2019Tasted by: Prices:
