Gérard Bertrand Château L'Hospitalet La Clape Grand Vin Rouge 2016

La Clape, Coteaux du Languedoc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceChâteau de l’Hospitalet sits one hundred metres above the Mediterranean Sea on fossil-rich marl-limestone and red Mediterranean soils. The grapes are cultivated using sustainable methods that respect the Terra Vitis procedures, guaranteeing the traceability of growing practices which are verified by an independent body. La Clape is a mix of syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and comes from the best of two thousand barrels. The nose is classic garrigue, all scrubby dryland herbs, and floral, meaty, black cherry, and liquorice. The tannins are supple but supportive, cushioning the black cherry jam, black raspberry, licorice, and menthol roasted pepper flavours. I love the acid fruit balance throughout the long, persistent finish. Should be in every restaurant in Canada all winter.Tasted: 23 April 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
