Gérard Bertrand Château de la Soujeole Grand Vin Rouge 2016
Côtes de la Malperès, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceSoujeole is set in the appellation Malepère, not far from the iconic medieval city of Carcassonne. Like most of Bertrand's sites, it is farmed biodynamically, and this Grand Vin is the top label of the estate. It is a blend of cabernet franc, merlot, and malbec, all fermented and aged separately for 12 months. The palate is a vibrant version of rich black fruits sprinkled with chocolate, coffee, mocha amidst dense but rounded tannins. The biodynamic process seems to add a freshness to this Mediterranean Bordeaux-styled red that lifts it from the glass.Tasted: 23 April 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $59.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Pacific Wine and Spirits |
