Terrasses de Larzac, Coteaux du Languedoc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceThe Coteaux du Languedoc is known for its inspiring reds, but the white wines can be equally compelling when made with passion, a specialty at Gerard Bertrand. The vines are planted at the northern end of the Hérault département, in the shadow of a vast limestone plateau. The result is significant temperature variation between day and night, and that usually spells significant acid retention and the ability to make fresh wines. Sauvageonne Blanc is a mix of all that and more, mixing grenache blanc, vermentino, viognier and roussanne. The nose is floral with bits of garrigue, fresh-cut mango and nectarine. Rich and full-bodied, but with enough acidity to carry the wine through the finish. Impressively long and persistent. Perfect for grilled fish recipes or veal.
