Spearhead Chardonnay Clone 95 2017
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaClone 95 is a unique bottling of a single French clone from two sites: one on the Naramata Bench as well as Spearhead's home site in southeast Kelowna. The attack is leesy, resiny and creamy with peach, pear, hazelnut, and a creamed corn finish. Set against that drier image is a vibrant red apple flecked with spice in the back end. There's a touch of bitterness in the oaky finish that can be off-putting but I like the style and expect it will all resolve over the next year. It’s whole cluster pressed, fermented and aged in French oak (40 percent new) for 11 months.
