Rieslingfreak No. 4 Eden Valley 2018

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaNo. 4 was sourced from two vineyards in Eden, and aims to characterize the region, which it does strikingly. No 4 was a massive surprise in 2018; normally harvested three weeks after the Clare Vineyards, these vineyards were harvested one day before Clare. The two sites are between 450-500m, and a mix of sandy loam, shales, clay and quartz. Tight lime, broken stone, kisses of honeysuckle, pear skin on a dry, taut, lively palate, one strung with tension and perfectly balanced through the grapefruit pithy finish. Slender but filled with intensity, this is a highlight of John Hughes' 2018s, and show of his mastery of the grape. Well done.Tasted: 06 February 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
