Diatom Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesCambria Estate is led by sisters Katie and Julia Jackson (of Jackson Family Wines) and is home to this single vineyard selection under the Diatom label. The fruit comes off the coastal Santa Maria Bench in Santa Barbara County. This cooler, fog-blanketed, limestone-laden site is planted to clones 4, 76, 96, Wente. The vines are forty-eight-year-old, self-rooted and sit up the hillside in the north west corner of Cambria’s Santa Maria Estate. The nose is très tropical with citrus and melon notes, green apple, pear notes with just a hint of pineapple. Fresh but soft with plenty of honeyed, leesy note spiked with nutmeg and vanilla. A cooler, fresher more modern look Santa Barbara chardonnay and we like it. Try this with mahi mahi fish tacos.Tasted: 02 February 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
