Garagiste Terre de Feu Pinot Noir 2016

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AustraliaOnly 60 dozen were made of this special reserve wine from Barney Flanders, sourced from 20-year-old vines in one corner of the impressive Merricks vineyard. Terre De Feu is a small lot release above and beyond his single vineyard wines. Entirely whole bunch, lightly foot trodden and native fermented in two barrels (one brand new) where it spent ten months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Alluring from first whiff, with exotic cinnamon, pink pepper, star anise, rhubarb, sarsaparilla, sweet tobacco, black raspberry gently hemmed in with nubby tannins. There's a wild, sapid texture to the palate via the whole bunches that adds another dimension to the wine, one that trails off with campari allure. Very much in youth, and very much Mornington.Tasted: 24 January 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
