Garagiste Merricks Pinot Noir 2017

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AustraliaDark raspberry is dosed with sarsaparilla in this Merricks Grove pinot noir, one shaded darker than many Mornington pinots, but with a very light and gentle touch. This was partial whole berry, and partial whole bunches, fermented separately and native, and then blended together for a long, relatively hands-off approach. Post ferment, this spent ten months in 300L barrels (20 percent new) before being bottled unfiltered. Sensual and silken, with forest floor, dried plum and kisses of wild blueberry that finish with cinnamon and amaro. Tannins are near negligible save for a slight muddiness, and acidity is fine but lofty.Tasted: 23 January 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
