Terre del Barolo Barolo 2013
Piedmont, ItalyCo-op wines are always tricky buys but Terre del Barolo, established in 1958, has an enviable reputation supported by some 400 members. The winery is located in Castiglione Falletto and is home to a plethora of small growers, many of whom are committed to making natural wines using minimum inputs. This 2013 is a winner, from its aromatic dried flowers to its almost sweet, plummy, silky fruit. Cherries liquorice, tar suggests I may want to drink this entire bottle. Think rich umami-laced items such as mushrooms risotto or wild boar osso buco, or just a hunk of salty dry-aged Parmigiano Reggiano. This is delicious and very affordable.
