Le Soula

Le Soula 2012

IGP Côtes Catalanes, Roussillon, South of France, FranceLe Soula comes from one of Southern France's most exciting natural and biodynamic wineries, run by winemaker Gérard Gauby, who found the abandoned vines in the Cotes Catalans in Roussillon in the late 1990s. In 2012 the blend is macabeu, sauvignon, grenache blanc, marsanne, roussanne, vermentino and malvoisie du Roussillon, from decomposed granite and gneiss, around 500m altitude in the Fenouillèdes region (the French word for fennel). This is macerated on skins for 15 days before pressing, and native fermented, spending one year in oak before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Look for a yellow orange hue with wild notes of pineapple, peach and tangerine dusted with wild herbs or garrigue. A citrus perfume freshens the palate upfront followed by a textured, skin-contact, mid palate laced with almonds, mineral salts and more complexing garrigue. A white wine for contemplation and any style of food you can imagine.Tasted: 24 November 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices: BC 55.99 BCLS Producer: Le SoulaDistributors: Altus Wines
