Free Form White 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRevisiting this wine one year after first glimpse, and it's as tight, taut, and impressive as before. Primarily Secrest pinot blanc, this is splashed with chardonnay and viognier, from two other vineyards in the Okanagan, all organically farmed. After destemming and a native ferment (pinot blanc in concrete, the others in neutral French oak), these remained on skins for 8 months before being pressed off and blended in a large concrete tank. It rested there for 6 weeks before bottling in Mid August 2018. Pouring a lovely amber hue, this is nervy and grippy, with apricot oil, peach fuzz, bergamot tea, dried sage and thyme streaming along the medium (12.5 degree) frame. Acidity is astringent, and the slight grip of tannins and concrete along the side adds to the mouthwatering appeal. There's a slight warming bitter orange pith on the lingering finish. Welcome with food, or solo, and a very strong indicator for the future of natural wines in Supernatural BC.Tasted: 09 September 2019Tasted by: Prices:
