Trinchero BVR Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Napa Valley, California, United StatesBRV stands for Bob, Roger and Vera, all second-generation members of the Trinchero family that are the driving force behind a new commitment at the winery to raise the bar on quality, in this case to the top of the mountains. The fruit is a mix of Haystack Vineyard, located at 1500 feet above sea level on Atlas Peak in the Vacca Mountains east of the valley floor, and Cloud’s Nest on Mount Veeder, also 1,500 feet above sea level on the west side of the valley in the Mayacamas Mountains. At six years of age, the wine is expressing the quality of the 2012 vintage, one of several recent high quality vintages in Napa Valley. Expect an aromatic, hedonistic, warm nose of black fruits laced with spice and cedar. The palate is even more intense with rich, blueberry, sweet black cherries and savoury licorice flecked with light, floral, mineral notes. There’s plenty of power here, but not without some restraint. You can drink this now with a rare T-bone steak or cellar it through 2020. Well done.Tasted: 16 October 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
