Synchromesh Tertre Rouge 2016

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThough Alan Dickinson and Synchromesh is legend for riesling, they also produce high quality reds, like this cabernet franc / merlot blend from Naramata's Turtle Rock Farms. The 2016 was packaged under the white label, and is a blend of 66 merlot and 34 cabernet franc, 30 percent of which saw new French barrels for 20 months. The cab franc is entirely whole bunch, giving a whole new fresh and brisk dimension to this wine, one under the previous and sun-bloated 2015 was a bit heavy. In contrast, this is positively smashable, with duskier wild blackberries and blue plums, graphite-lined fine tannins and a sketching of textural spices to a lifted, perfumed, bitter cassis finish. Lovely reflection of vintage variation and direction.Tasted: 15 October 2018Tasted by: Prices:
