Rieslingfreak No. 5 Clare Valley 2017

Clare Valley, South Australia, AustraliaWhat a difference a spoonful of sugar makes. Sourced from the same Clare Valley family vineyard as Riesling No. 3, but from lighter soils than the No. 3's heavy red clays, which shows in the brightness and lift of this wine. This just off-dry riesling fills out the slender palate with pear flesh, kefir lime pulp, apricot, Asian pear, light exotic spice, all tightened with lime pith and kissed with honeysuckle and brulée. There's a wash to the mid that trails to the pineapple rind finish. The blip of 11-15 g/l RS is well matched by the taut, limey acidity acidity. So much wine, at only 10 degrees. Impressive now, and for future drinking.Tasted: 08 October 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
