Mission Hill Terroir Collection No. 32 Vista's Edge Cabernet Franc 2016
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe cream of the crop makes it to this label that, in most cases, represents less than three to five percent of the MHFE franc fruit. The source in 2016 is a small, west-facing slope (with a vista) on the most southerly part of the eastern side of the Okanagan Valley. After a concrete and neutral oak fermentation, it spends 18 months in French oak, one quarter new. Expect a perfumed nose of black fruits with peppery, savoury undertones that spill across the palate, and leafy, graphite, black raspberry and pepper with a dusting of soft tannins and a long fresh finish. The sky’s the limit. Drink or hold beyond 2025.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Mission Hill Terroir Collection No. 32 Vista's Edge Cabernet Franc 2016
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis was the second vintage of cabernet franc to be bottled from Vista's Edge, located on the Osoyoos East Bench. Winemaker Darryl Brooker used a significant portion of whole clusters (40 percent) to bring back a lovely herbal, spicy note to the wine, a varietal character which is all-too-often lacking in Okanagan cabernet franc. The result is absolutely spectacular, and certainly one of the best I've tried to date from the valley, with a savoury edge that doesn't come at the expense of ripeness. It's pure and expressive, with a light touch of French oak that is firmly in the background. Sold out at the winery; if you manage to find this, buy every bottle you can get your hands on.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Mission Hill Terroir Collection No. 32 Vista's Edge Cabernet Franc 2016
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOnly the top 3 percent of estate fruit makes it into the Terroir Series wines, a selection that best expresses the specific microclimate of special sites. This came from Osoyoos east and is clone 2014. Post-ferment, this spent 18 months in French oak (25 percent of which was new). Perfumed blueberry, plum, cherry and ample peppery notes filter through this long wine, one lined with firm, grippy, graphite sides. All are held up with a lovely raft of freshness, much more than 2015, keeping this bigger wine lively on the palate.Tasted: 19 October 2018Tasted by: Prices:
