Luigi Scavino Azelia Langhe Nebbiolo 2014
Piedmont, ItalyMedium dark as you might expect, but with an intense nose of violets with an earthy, cherry undercurrent. The attack is dry with firm tannins forming up the sides of your mouth and juicy red fruit flavours with more strawberry and cherry. The fruit comes off 20-year-old vines in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. This has more of Barolo structure and while the winery says it drinks earlier than its Barolos this is clearly needs more time to come about in the bottle. Best through 2021, or serve it now with beef or a mushroom risotto.Tasted: 11 October 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $54.99 | 750ml | private wine stores |
