Greywacke Wild Sauvignon 2014
Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand2014 was a little warmer than the average, and a lovely representation of the powerful aims of this wine. Sourced from the same southern Wairau blocks as the previous vintages, plus partial Awatere, this was entirely fermented in older French barrique, with only 7 percent new wood (lightly toasted) and spent 11 months in oak before tightening in tank for 6-8 months prior to blending and bottling. Wild herbs, meadow grasses are carried by a fine, tight, brisk hum of of spicing through the stony, lanolin-lined finish. This is an excellent example of a wine that transcends grape variety.Tasted: 26 October 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $36.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
