CedarCreek Platinum Block Single Vineyard Pinot Gris 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBlock Seven is 100 percent pinot gris grown on stony sections of the vineyards that produce more concentration and a riper profile. In 2017 winemaker Taylor Whelan decided to push the intensity and ripeness of sugars and phenolics to new levels hoping to make a weighty Alsace style. The grapes were whole bunch pressed, the juice was fermented using organic yeasts in oak barriques, French oak puncheons and concrete eggs and finished in an off-dry style (18 grams/litre) - where the sugar was asked to take on the acidity and phenolics. The nose and palate are all about ripe pears with spicy, sweet red apples. If you like opulence or you are tackling a rich spicy dish, this wine will work.
