Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis opens with a savoury, smoky, deli meats nose mixed with peppercorns and a fresh floral underscore. This is cool Summerland syrah, offering up more meaty notes and earthy, savoury, roasted root veg before a slightly skinny, juicy finish at a very modest 12.5 percent alcohol. It spends year in French oak which is plenty given how light the fruit is. This is a fun syrah, ready to drink and not too overpowering, but one that could be amped up a bit with riper fruit. Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaGreen peppercorns, sapid branch, peppercorn dominates this Summerland syrah, one that feels like it's dosed with ample cabernet franc. Salt cured meats, roasted root veg, earth take over this lighter bodied syrah (12.5 degrees), one that spent one year aging in French barrique. I appreciate the freshness here, though there is not quite enough ripe fruit here to support the wood and framework. That said, if you're a massive lean franc fan, you might want to try this Summerland syrah for a change. For Wine Club members only.Tasted: 29 October 2018Tasted by: Prices:
