Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRust Wine Co. opened a year ago, taking over what was Rustico Farm and Cellars for their tasting room, and focused on making small lot, single vineyard wines from across the Okanagan. This is from Okanagan Falls' Lost Horn Vineyard, and clone 01. Ripe, dense and full, with smoked tobacco, big black fruit and wood spice, reflective of the 13 months in French oak (20 percent of which is new). A ripe sweetness lingers on the sweetness, as does ragged / wooden tannins. This is a giant wine, with ample potency, but lacking finesse.
