Fitz Crémant Sparkling Wine 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis new wine from sparkling house Fitz is titled Crémant, harkening to the traditional method sparkling wines of France outside of Champagne's appellation laws. Like those wines, this underwent secondary ferment in the bottle, where it then rested for nine months on the lees. Crémant is entirely pinot blanc, sourced from the winery's Greata Ranch estate (much like France's Crémant d'Alsace). Bright, juicy and joyous lemon, green apple, pear blossom, with light biscuit notes and ample brut sweetness (10.6 g/l RS) to counter the zippy acidity. There's a lemon pith texture on the finish. The RS could be dialled back a bit, but this bright, zesty, fruity, well made wine will have many fans, rightfully so.Tasted: 31 July 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
