Bartier Bros. Granite 2017
British Columbia, CanadaMichael Bartier calls his new release Granite a rosé/orange style wine. No matter the name, there is no VQA category for skin contact whites so you are free to assess it for what it is: a blend of gewürztraminer and pinot gris, from Summerland and Black Sage. The fruit was native fermented and spent 19 days on skins and then four months in stainless on its lees. Earl Grey tea, bergamot, grapefruit, dried sage, crushed stones leads along a sharpened palate. Acidity is moderate, as is a tug of grip along the sides. Bone dry, this is an entry-level, yet edgy wine, for those wanting to explore the world of orange.Tasted: 03 July 2018Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $25.99 | 750ml | winery direct, restaurants |
