Unsworth Vineyards Allegro 2017

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaWhat a difference a couple of years makes. Last time I tasted Allegro was the 2015 vintage. Now, in 2017, Allegro lives up to its musical name (referencing a cheerful, playful and lively tempo.) Dry, lively and bright, this blends Blattner white grapes sauvignette and petit milo to create a crisp, lively white with green apple, bosc pear, Asian pear, white grapefruit, and vibrant minerality, strung taut with acidity and arrow narrow in direction at 12.4 degrees. Stainless steel ferment and aging on lees, plus full MLF, have created a wine that captures the wine islands' bright acidity, yet tempers it slightly with the grapes' own lees work. Tasted blind you may go to Muscadet, but thankfully, this is intrinsically ours. Well done, maestros.Tasted: 14 June 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
