Cháteau de Beaulon Pineau des Charentes Blanc 5 Years in Wood NV
Cognac, FranceFor those unfamiliar, Pineau Des Charentes is an aperitif made from grape juice or partially fermented wine that is fortified with newly distilled cognac. This bottling is a blend of 1/3 cognac and 2/3 sauvignon blanc and sémillon, aged for five years in barrel. The result is a sweet aperitif, with 120 g/L residual sugar and 18% abv, that combines dried apricots, lemon, and orange peel with white blossoms, honey, and dried nuts, showing the oxidative character of five years in wood. It's a fun discovery, to be sure, and you can't go wrong at this price. A bottle should hold for 3-4 weeks after it's opened.Tasted: 09 May 2023Tasted by: Prices:
