The Velvet Devil Merlot 2015

Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesOpen, savoury black fruit aromas with earth and red currant notes. The 2015 seems a touch turned down in intensity, which is a good thing. It is also less sweet on the palate complimented by an oak regime that has been dialled back. The fruit is grown on several sites including one of the oldest vineyards on the Wahluke Slope, planted in 1997. An enjoyable effort in a very warm year. The blend is 84/9/3/2/2 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and other varieties all aged 10 months in 30 percent new oak. The attack is glossy smooth but with fruit prominent and the finish more sapid. A new direction and I like it. Try this with barbecue pork or beef.Tasted: 06 March 2018Tasted by: Prices:
