Rodney Strong Symmetry Meritage Red Wine 2014
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesSymmetry is a red meritage from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, and in 2014 is a mix of 80/8/5/4/3 cabernet sauvignon, malbec, merlot, petit verdot, cabernet franc aged 20 months in French oak barrels (53 percent new). Most of the fruit comes off the hillsides of the Alexander Valley and is fermented separately. In 2014, Brothers Cabernet Block 1, at the base of the mountainside, was picked first on September 8 while the last Symmetry picks came in early October: Petit Verdot at Rockaway and Cabernet Franc and Malbec from the warm soils of Knight’s Valley. Symmetry sports fragrant, floral, open black cherry, plums, black figs on the nose and palate. The texture is melt-in-your-mouth silky, the finish harmonious and elegant. It should peak by 2021. Beef, lamb, hard cheeses all work here.Tasted: 01 March 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $80.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
