Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard Brooks Road Shiraz 2015

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaRetasted a year down the road, the Brooks Road Shiraz remains full-bodied if slightly acidic red, highlighted by the spice that underlays its red fruit flavours. The Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard, established in 1971, is now a part of the country’s wine heritage, supplying fruit to produce many iconic labels. Oz Winemaker Charlie Seppelt takes the lead in shiraz production. The attack is almost skinny, with spicy red fruit and spice that suggests a wine that is bigger than it is. Hand-picked at 210-230 metres, the bunches are destemmed, and the sorted berries run into open fermenters. There is a four-day cold soak with a minimum of eighteen days on the skin. The wine was then basket pressed, and to minimize filtration at bottling, four rack-and-returns were conducted over fifteen months as the wine seasoned in a mixture of Burgundy-coopered barrels.Tasted: 10 January 2020Tasted by: Prices:
