Suvla Karasakiz 2016
Gallipoli Peninsula (Marmara) (Thracian) Region, TurkeyA new winery built in 2009 plays a key role in preserving the freshness of grapes that arrive from the vineyard and ultimately, the quality of the wine. The indigenous variety Karasakiz is unique to the Gallipoli region and at Suvla it’s grown at Bozokbag, upon the family vineyard, on the Gallipoli Peninsula. The nose is fresh and fragrant with a hint of balsamic. The attack is soft and round, reminiscent of a young pinot noir with intense plum/strawberry notes with bits of figs dusted in dried herbs. Impressive balanced red that should improve in the bottle. Try this with chicken or pork or a favourite softy cheese.Tasted: 24 February 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $22.99 | 750ml | estimated retail |
